What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient holistic Ayurvedic healing system encompassing the mind, body and spirit and strives to restore balance and inner harmony to all three to improve the health of the individual.

 

How is Indian Head Massage given?

Treatment is given in a chair, massaging upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face with gentle stroking, stimulating and pressure movements.  It can be carried out over clothes or with a wraparound and oils of your choice.

 

What are the benefits of Indian Head Massage?

The physical benefits experienced from Indian Head Massage may include:

              Revitalises the whole body, relieves muscular tension and improves mobility of joints;

              Helps to ease headaches and migraine;

              Relieves mental strain and aids concentration;

              Can help to relieve sinusitis and congestion – eg, persistent snorers might experience up to       three nights of trouble-free sleep after the massage;

              Aids relaxation and helps to bring about mind and body balance.

              Indian Head Massage is designed to reduce stress and aid relaxation

 

              To ensure maximum benefit, go home and relax

              Please be aware that hair will be oily after the treatment

 

              Drink plenty of water

              Please arrive at least 5 minutes early so you can begin to relax

 

              Avoid caffeine or alcohol and cut down on smoking

              Try to avoid eating a heavy meal 2 hours before

 

              Maintain a healthy diet

              Ensure your telephone is on silent before entering the treatment room

 

              Avoid strenuous activities following your treatment

 

Are there any side-effects from Indian Head Massage?

Following Indian Head Massage, you may experience a number of symptoms or side effects. These differ from person to person and are all positive signs of  the body bringing itself back into balance.

These may include:

              Deep sleep OR difficulty sleeping (including vivid dreams);

              Headache;

              Feeling emotional;

              Increased visits to the toilet and/or perspiration – the body excreting waste;

              Temporary Flu-Like Symptoms, eg, runny nose and/or cough;

              Conditions which have been suppressed may flare up temporarily before they heal.

 

Rememberthese  reactions are positive signs of the body bringing itself back into balance.
